LIBERTYTOWN, Md. - Albert Richard Zimmerman, 69, of
9022 Walnut St., died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at his
home.
Born April 2, 1934, in Jefferson, Md., he was the son
of the late Charles and Iola Arvin Zimmerman.
He retired as a school bus driver with the Frederick
County (Md.) Board of Education.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Christ Reformed United Church of
Christ in Middletown, Md.
He was a member and former district officer of
Johnsville Ruritan Club; a member of Maryland State
Dairy Herd Improvement Association; Sire Power
Association; Maryland-Virginia Co-op.; and served on
the board of directors of Southern States.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Evelyn Zecher
Zimmerman, whom he married June 1, 1956; four
children, Lauren Palmer of Keedysville, Sue Palmer of
Wolfsville, Carl Zimmerman of Libertytown, and Charles
Zimmerman of Union Bridge, Md.; two sisters, Winifred
Ropp of Frederick, and Carolyn Stalnaker of Florida;
two brothers, Robert Zimmerman of Frederick, and Gary
Zimmerman of Florida; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Sherylynne
Zimmerman and Georgia C. Barnes; one sister, Eleanor
Killing; and one brother, Gene Zimmerman.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Donald B.
Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown. The Rev. James
Coblentz will officiate. Burial will be in Christ
Reformed Cemetery, Middletown.
The family will receive friends today and Friday from 7
to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
