Mr. Roland "Rollie" W. Heffner Sr., 79, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2006, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born March 4, 1927, in Brunswick, Md., he was a son of the late George W. and Bessie Gladstone Heffner.

He is survived by three daughters, Margaret Stroud, Linda Heffner and Bonnie and husband Samuel Jones, all of Frederick, Md.; six grandchildren, Julie and Jason Stroud, Jeremy and Matthew Jones, Anne Marie Sullivan and Eric Heffner; six great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Anderson of Frederick; brother, Lawrence Heffner of Brunswick; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Doris Fellers Heffner; his son, Roland W. Heffner Jr.; and two brothers, George W. Heffner Jr. and Douglas A. Heffner.

Mr. Heffner was a World War II Navy veteran. He worked for the B&O/CSX Railroad as a carman for 47 years, until his retirement in 1989. He enjoyed many years of retirement with his family and friends around Brunswick. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brunswick, Loyal of the Moose No. 1582, Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1136 and American Legion Post No. 96.

Visitation with family will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Avenue, Brunswick. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at the Church of the Brethren in Brownsville. The Reverend Dan Johnson will officiate.
