7/21/2010 Brunswick City Council unanimously voted last week to name a city park on A Street "Veteran's Park," in recognition of the efforts of area veterans to create an honorary area for servicemen and women.

10/15/2009 Police Chief Milt Frech assured the City Council on Tuesday that skateboarders will not be allowed to show disrespect or damage property at Veterans Memorial Park on A Street. Stonework and repairs valued at more than $50,000 have been made to the memorial in the past year. It is not a place for skateboarding, Frech said. Skateboarding has caused damage at least once, he said. "It can't be tolerated," Frech said. "We try to work with the kids," allowing them to skateboard elsewhere in town, but not at the memorial. "They've got to show courtesy," Frech said. "We need kids to understand responsibility." |
